The Youth Ministry of Del Norte Baptist exists to help students "Grow
Like A Fro" A "Fro" is a united mass, and just like that mass of hair, we want to be a united group, a family. A "Fro" also grows up - as if towards God - and out - as if towards others. We have several activities that we engage our students in to try and accomplish this. |
SNLSaturday Night Life is a new thing here at DNBC. It is our youth service held on Saturday nights. It begins at 6 with a fellowship time, and then at around 7 we move into the auditorium for a time of worship. Groups from MOSAIC perform, the praise team leads us in worship, and we typically have a short message. It's a great time and everyone is welcome to come, but just be warned - it's geared for youth. Sunday SchoolEvery Sunday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 we have Sunday School for our students. We gather together at the beginning for some fellowship and a few announcements and then we split up and go to our studies. The group is split based on age, so one group is 7th-9th graders and the other is 10th-12th graders. We have a great time in Sunday School and it is the main time for our students to spend time studying and discussing the Word together. ActeensActeens is our missions organization for girls in grades 7-12. They meet on Sundays from 4-5 and they spend time not only learning about missions, but learning what its like to do missions themselves. They sample parts of other cultures such as food and dress, as they learn about the missionaries that work around the world. Acteens strive to truly understand what it means to go to every tribe, tongue, and nation with the good news of Christ. To get more info about all of our missions groups click here. Youth in ActionYouth in Action (YIA) is our missions organization for guys in grades 7-12. They meet on Sundays from 4-5 and they spend time not only learning about missions, but learning what its like to do missions themselves. They spend time learning about missionaries in other cultures as well missionaries in our own country, and of course they have some good guy oriented fun as well. They strive to truly understand what it means to reach every tribe, tongue and nation for Christ. To get more info about all of our missions groups click here. Bible Drill & SpeakersBible Drill is offered for youth in grades 7-9. It is an exciting way for teenagers to learn to use their Bibles and meet the challenges of life. Youth can also gain poise and confidence as they respond to drill calls with speed and accuracy. They compete in the church, associational, and eventually the state Bible drill. Winners at the state level can receive scholarship to BCNM summer camps as well as college scholarships to a couple of different schools. Youth Speaker’s is for students in grades 10-12. It is a part of our Bible Drill group, and continues to help our students grow in what they know about the Bible and in their faith. It demands serious time and effort to prepare a speech, but the pay-off can be tremendous as teenagers learn to express their faith verbally. Students compete on the church, associational, and state levels. Winners at the state level can receive scholarships to schools such as Wayland and Hardin Simmons. Camps & TripsEvery year there are trips and camps that we go on as a youth ministry. A couple of the regular trips that we make are Youth Music Camp at Inlow, which occurs in early July, and Lives Ablaze which is the Baptist Convention of New Mexico’s Student Evangelism Conference and happens every Labor Day weekend.
LibraryOur church library offers a wide variety of resources dealing with youth. Some are meant to be used by the students themselves, others are designed more for parents or people who work with the youth. No matter which group you fall into, you will find some useful resources in our church library. To see more info about the library click here.
