At Del Norte Baptist Church we encourage all of our members to be involved in worship,
Bible study, and some kind of ministry both in and outside of the church.
You can find out more about all of these here.

Sunday School

Sunday School  is from 9:45 to 10:45 on Sunday mornings. These groups range in size from 5 to more than 25, and while many of the groups are formed around similar ages, that is just a beginning guideline. We also offer men’s and ladies classes, and we are open to offering alternative groups as well as meeting at other times and days of the week for those that might be interested. We like to think of these groups as “the church within the church” – a place where you can learn more about God and His Word through study and discussion, as well as a place to build deep and meaningful relationships with fellow believers. Many of our classes have adopted a particular ministry to serve together in and we hope that everyone who comes to a Bible Study class would find a place to serve. We expect all of our members to join and attend a Bible Study/Sunday School class. A list of classes and teachers is available from any of our Greeters on Sunday mornings.  To learn more about all of our Bible study opportunities click here.

SAM

SAM stands for Senior Adult Ministry.  This group has regular game days & game nights.  They get together and do service projects and go on trips together.  To learn more about SAM's click here.

YAM

Our Young Adult Ministry (YAM) strives to create a unique fellowship for young adults to provide opportunities for fellowship, service, and supporting members' needs.  They engage in social gatherings such as game nights and picnics and also do service projects together.  To learn more about our YAM's just click here.

Celebration Choir

This group helps to lead worship in our 8:30 traditional service by singing congregational hymns and the occasional special. The seasonal events of Easter and Christmas are usually celebrated by this choir presenting a full concert or musical. Requirements to join are fairly simple. You must have a love for music, be able to carry a tune and make it to practice on Wednesday nights from 7:30 to 8:30.  To see more about all of our music programs click here.

Praise Team

The Adult Praise Team leads music for the 11:00 a.m. worship service on Sundays. The ages of the group’s members range from 25 years to 55 years. Many of the songs they play and sing appear on the Top 25 Most Popular Christian Songs as listed by C.C.L.I.

The priority in song selection is the message and its sing-ability by the congregation. A few songs in their repertoire date back 25 years but they also enjoy the music of more contemporary artists such as Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and Darlene Zschech.

This group is open to the idea of receiving new members but there is an audition as well as a 60 day probation period.  To learn more about all of our music programs click here.

Women on Mission

Women on Mission is our mission’s organization for adult women. It is a place where they can find realistic, practical, flexible, multiple and fun ways to influence the world for Christ. The missions education that is provided can help women understand biblical missions concepts and gives them a means of bringing these concepts to life through personal involvement. They focus on some aspect of missions: missions awareness, ministry, witnessing, praying and/or missions-focused Bible study. This group of ladies meets the third Tuesday of each month at 2pm at the church.  To see all of our missions programs click here.

Wednesday Prayer & Bible Study

The search for new truths is a never ending quest. Following a warm and open time of prayer each Wednesday night, we explore God's Word, the Bible, as a prelude to new spiritual dynamics in Christian living. During the prayer time we share prayer requests, pray for those requests, and thank God for the privilege of prayer. It is also a time of fellowship and laughter. You are invited to be a part of the Wednesday Prayer Meeting.

Discipleship Training

One of the strong points in Christian education at Del Norte Baptist Church is the Discipleship Training that is open and offered to anyone who is interested in growing toward maturity in Christ.

Classes are generally offered during the school year and typically are held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Sunday and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The class subjects change every semester. As we prepare for the Fall Semester of 2007 here is a list of the proposed studies:

  • Crown Ministry’s Biblical Financial Study: a ten week study on handling money God’s way.*
  • Living Beyond Yourself: a Beth Moore video series on the fruit of the Spirit.*
  • The Measure of a Man Part II: a Gene Getz video series on godly characteristics every Christian man should exhibit.*
  • Opening the Seven Seals Scroll: a study of the Book of Revelation.
  • Spanish as a Second Language.*

(*) there is a cost for this study.

Service

We have a lot of ways for people to serve both at Del Norte and out in the community.  There are activities as simple as being an usher or greeter on Sunday mornings, or being a tutor for a 2nd grader from Governor Bent on Wednesday afternoons.  We also have groups that do things like go serve food at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission.  To see all of our opportunities to serve click here.

Quilting & Crafts

Del Norte Quilters

All aspects of quilting are taught by two experienced quilters. Sewing machines hum on the second and fourth Thursday afternoons as members learn many techniques to make personal quilts and “Gift Quilts”. This activity provides participants the opportunity to learn new skills and is an effective outreach ministry. Members of the group not only include church members but non-members and unchurched people, as well.

The Del Norte Quilters meet at Del Norte Baptist Church the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. New members are always welcome. For more information please contact Barbara at 298-7080.

Craft Gettogether

Members of this ministry include all ages. The participants meet twice a month to learn to make craft items. Members share their ideas with the group and enjoy snacks and fellowship. New projects we will learn include finger pincushions, macrame plant hangers, ribbon embroidery, Christmas light ornament, tole painting and pillowcases.

The Craft Gettogether meets at Del Norte Baptist Church the first and third Friday morning from 9:30am until 11:30. Contact Barbara at 298-7080 for more information.

Library

Our church library is full of useful information and resources.  You can find helpful tools for personal growth or for leading others.  No matter what you are in search of, you'll find something that fits the bill in our church library.  To see more about the library click here.
